Well said, Chad

Exceptional take on why this signing matters beyond the stats. The line about fans falling in love with people not spreadsheets nails something analytics-first teams keep missing. Ive watched too many rosters built for efficiency that lacked anyone worth staying up for. Geno bringing that fear-inducing power threatback changes the entire calculus for pitching around Elly.

It took me too long to recognize that.

I have a feeling our "six singles" hitting instructor will try to talk Suarez into cutting down his swing. Hopefully Suarez ignores him and convinces Elly to do the same. Seriously, a welcome signing after the baloney the Reds front office tried to feed us about "trying" to sign Schwarber.

Fingers crossed!

I wasn't big on Saurez a couple months ago thinking there were better picks...but now I am ALL IN! Let's goooo.

(per sentence #1 - The reason the groundhog got it wrong is cause his name is Phil...)

Great stuff. While I don't think this is a nostalgia signing at all, I wondered this morning if nostalgia (or something related) is how the Reds were able to boost payroll to sign Geno -- he's a guy ownership "had heard of."

The Rip was a lot of fun. I co-sign that recommendation. My only real gripe with that movie was that I'm pretty sure they shot it in L.A. I've never seen a movie *set in Miami* that had no interest in showing the beaches, palm trees, or bikinis.

Excellent point about Geno. I bet there’s a somewhat more productive player out there that ownership wouldn’t have given thumbs up to, because he’s not Geno.

I saw your Letterboxd review, and I hadn’t noticed the lack of Miami until you mentioned it. But you’re right!
